John F. Hartner has led technology companies around the world for 30 years in automation, capital equipment and digital printing industries. John is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of ExOne, a leading player in metal Additive Manufacturing systems. Also he founded, Digital Industrialist, an early stage investment fund that focuses on 3D Printing, especially in medical, materials and software. Previously he was COO of EnvisionTEC Inc. a leading provider of 3D printing solutions in medical, dental and bio-fabrication applications. Much of his career was spent leading Fortune 500 multi-national firms. Most recently he was President of Dover’s Digital Printing segment, grew and sold Dover’s Electronics Technology group, ran FMC Technology in Asia and he started his career at Rockwell International. For half of his career, John lived and ran businesses in Asia and Europe. He graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering and he completed his MBA at the University of Chicago. John serves on the Villanova Engineer College Advisory Board, the board of Maria Mitch Science Center and is part of the Young Presidents Organization. Although John now lives between Florida and NYC, he grew up in Pittsburgh where he was inspired by great industrialist like Carnegie and Rockefeller. His drive to make Additive Manufacturing mainstream is meant to help power the next Industrial Revolution.
